Mumbai, March 23: Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has rubbished Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray’s claims that he was doing more for Uttar Pradesh than Maharashtra.
Speaking during an interview to a Mumbai newspaper, Bachchan said the allegations made by Raj do not deserve attention.
“This is a free country and every individual enjoys the liberty of free speech. The law of the land and its Constitution are supreme. Every Indian should be affected by that. Random charges are random; they do not deserve the kind of attention you wish me to give,” he told the newspaper.
Raj had recently alleged that Bachchan was showing more loyalty to Uttar Pradesh than Maharashtra, where he lives. The MNS chief had made the remarks during the violence against North Indians witnessed in Mumbai as well as other parts of Maharashtra.
Bachchan’s reaction – his first against Raj’s allegations – came just a day before the MNS chief addresses his first public rally after the lifting of a court gag order against him.
