Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday after the full moon or the first Sunday after Good Friday, when Christ was crucified.
Sunday will be a busy day for Patrick Baretto. He will be meeting his relatives and friends for the festival.
''It will be a great day for the family, we will be having a family lunch, exchanging chocolate bunnys and then we will go to missionaries of charity and distribute sweets and have cold-drinks with them and give them milk,'' said Patrick Barreto.
Easter spells the coming back to life of Jesus. The day also symbolises the victory of good over evil and life over death.
''Easter demonstrates that God was pleased with what Jesus did, his way of life and secondly it gives us hope that if we do well even after death we will live eternally just like Jesus,'' said Vincent Concessao, Archbishop of Delhi.
It's also a day when no good Christian will let work come in the way of celebration.
''This is a unique occasion, the whole family meets and we will celebrate together,'' Oscar Fernandes, Union Minister of Labour and Employment.
Easter is usually marked by devotees, lighting candles, singing devotional songs, holding special prayers. The coloured eggs are a big part of the tradition.
''Eggs symbolises life, so there is a tradition of giving eggs,'' said Archbishop of Delhi.
Easter, the resurrection of Jesus is the celebration of life, the message being if you have faith in God you will conquer the world just like Jesus did with his resurrection.
