Amritsar, Mar 26: The visit of Bollywood stars Rekha and Rishi Kapoor saw a large number of devotees throng the Golden Temple in the holy city.
The actors, here for the shooting of the film 'Sadia' by Rajkamal, first paid obeisance at its sanctum sanctorum and were later presented replicas of Harmandir Sahib and sets of Sikh religious books by the SGPC.
They enacted a scene at the 'langar' (community kitchen) where they clean utensils in an act of selfless devotion.
A few scenes were also shot in the marbled periphery of the temple and at the Akal Takht, the Sikh temporal seat.
Hundreds of fans, young and old alike, milled around to catch a glimpse of Rekha dressed in an off-white salwar-kameez and dupatta around her head while the SGPC task force had tough time managing the crowds.
The actors caused a slight stir when they were offered holy water, which they poured in each others' mouths, as it is considered taboo inside the shrine premises by the Sikh 'maryada" (religious code).
The Information Centre for guiding foreign tourists was shut for three hours during which the Bollywood personalities took a "tea break" and enjoyed the famous 'Amritsari lassi'.
Rekha also had pearls of wisdom for Information Officer Gurbachan Singh when he said the Golden Temple is the Mecca of the Sikh community.
She said, "it is a pious and religious place for the whole world; not just one community".
